Vintage Walborg Beaded Handbag made in France circa 1950
This Walborg handbag features a stunning rhinestone clasp that runs the length of the top of the bag. Most Walborg bags were not as ornate in design with such an elegantly designed closure. This bag is definitely one that falls into the higher end category of bags made in Paris for Walborg Company. Measurements: 7x5x3″
Walborg Co. was founded by Hilde Weinberg in New York City in the late 1940s. She designed purses that were handmade in Belgium, France, Italy, and West Germany. Walborg beaded purses were popular in the 1950s. By the late 1950s, some Walborg purses were being made in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The company was in business until at least 1963. The West Germany tag proves your purse was made sometime between May 1949 and 1963 or perhaps a little later.
This beautiful beaded handbag is in excellent shape, no missing beads, tears or stains. It is like new and ready to accompany you to a wedding, cocktail party or evening at the Opera.

I have been buying vintage clothing and jewelry my entire adult life. I was bitten by the vintage fashion bug as a very young girl, watching Grace Kelley, Ginger Rogers, Marilyn Monroe, Catherine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn and countless other beautiful starlets in classic movies. I never lost my interest or love of fine fashion and design. In my teens I shopped at thrift stores – hoping to find a treasure that I could wear with my own clothing to make a statement that I was definitely different. Think Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink. My passion has continued over the past three decades and has taken me to vintage clothing stores and estate sales all over the world. I’ll never stop looking for new pieces made by loving hands because they tell a story of the past and create a feeling of confidence and luxury in the present.
